Introduction & History

The Canadian Marfan Association (CMA) is a national charitable organization dedicated to saving lives and helping Marfan patients live a good quality of life. We are the only Association in Canada helping Marfan patients and the most reliable source for current and accurate information about Marfan syndrome.

The CMA was founded in 1986 by Elizabeth McHenry and Marfan patients and physicians who saw a critical need for Marfan syndrome awareness, education and support.

For over twenty years the Canadian Marfan Association has been dedicated to assisting Marfan patients and their families. We accomplish our goals by:

  • Educating patients, family members and the health care community about the syndrome.
  • Providing a network of support for patients and families to share experiences and improve their medical care
  • Supporting research and  the development of Marfan Clinics

The Canadian Marfan Association is a member of the International Federation of Marfan Syndrome Organizations
